Xin Chen 
Xin Chen obtained his B. Sc. (1987) M. Sc. (1990) and Ph. D (1993) in organic chemistry from Lanzhou University in China. He is a synthetic organic chemist and medicinal chemist. He is Director and Senior Research Scientist of Small Molecule Synthesis Facility (affiliated to Department of Chemistry) of Center for Chemical Biology at Duke University. His main responsibility is interfacing with Duke faculty investigators to advise, assist and execute the design and synthesis of small molecules for use in diverse chemical-biological settings. His current research is focused on: (1) Development of new pro-drug technology for improving delivery of ophthalmic drugs into the eye (for treating glaucoma disease), (2) Antagonists of G-protein-coupled receptors. Prior to rejoining Duke University, he was a Senior Research Scientist at TransTech Pharma Inc. in High Point of North Carolina, working on a drug discovery project targeting on Alzheimer’s diseases. He had spent three years (1997-1999) in University of California at Riverside to work on several agricultural and military important insect sex pheromone projects. Before coming to USA, he was an Associate Professor of chemistry at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has authored 38 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 3 US patents.
