Yang Chen is currently working for Lucent Technologies, a global leader in communication technologies, as a product manager/senior system engineer and a researcher as well, on voice/data communication network/service planning, VoiceXML/based voice portal technologies, Open Service Access (OSA)/Parlay Intelligent Service Gateway technologies, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) service platform/applications and Multi-media Messaging technologies and applications, and some other fields in this domain. Prior to his industry career, Yang has taught Operations Research courses in Business School of Bishop University, Canada as a faculty member and conducted researches on multi-level optimization theory /applications, network planning, and transportation planning as a post-doc research associate in University Montreal, Canada.

Yang Chen received a Ph.D in computer science & operations research from University of Montreal, an M.S. in operations research from Academy of Sciences of China, and a B.S. in mathematics from Shandong Normal University. 

Yang participated in various community activities and served as an executive VP of Chinese Association for Science and Technologies in USA (NC-Chapter) (2003-2004) and Board of Directors of Chinese-American Friendship Association  (CAFA) in Triangle Area (2000-2003).
